We recover digester performance
Case 1
We met Phil at a time where we weren’t very confident with the biological workings of an anaerobic digester and therefore lacked knowledge in how to run it effectively. Following extensive conversations and guidance we are now in a position where we run the digester more efficiently in terms of feedstock use and are better at maintaining a homeostatic environment.  Tim Johnson

Case 2
I was running a successful 500 kW CHP plant which got up-graded to include Bio-methane production. At this time the new digestion capacity was not built out so the original digesters were pushed harder, we doubled production while maintaining reasonable gas production figures (210 M3/T).
At around this time my attention was taken away from the plant, this combined with an equipment failure followed by a too rapid build up in feeding led to a sudden drop off in gas quality followed by a reduction in yield.
Feeding was stopped while some testing was undertaken, I called Dr Hobbs who I had spoken to previously but who has not been involved at the plant. He analysed the data we keep along with the results we obtained and came up with a feeding strategy to add a significant amount of buffering capacity to the primary digester. Over a period the results improved and we re-started feeding.
Once running again we upped our production to our highest output getting to 14,000 m3 per day from two 23x6 M digesters without any issues. In fact our gas production yield improved with our monthly, quarterly and six month moving averages all over 245 M3 per tonne with the monthly and 3 monthly at 260 M3 at 52% methane on a 70% maize 15% Rye and grass silage mix.
We have no fancy kit or even a decent lab - (a big mistake) - we just learnt to get the basics right, the basics need to include some oversight from someone away from the day to day.

I can thoroughly recommend Dr Hobbs as a truly independent professional AD expert who did not push technology or expensive additive solutions.
